exposing my nudes

I've been obsessed with dark red lipsticks for the longest time, to a point where I could literally wear Mac Diva for months in a row. Lately though, I find myself falling in love with more and more nude shades. I still love a bold lip and I will probably always go back to reds and purples but at this moment it's the nudes that I reach for the most. I love that they are more natural and a little less out there but what I probably like the most is the 90s feel they have to them.

I wasn't sure when exactly would be the right time to post this article though because I'm constantly adding new (vaguely different) shades to my collection but at this moment I do have a couple of favourites that i'd like to share with you, so let's do it.

I'm going to start of with my holy trinity by MAC: Velvet Teddy, Persistence and Verve.

Velvet Teddy is the lightest shade in this bunch and also the one I probably wear the least. But it's a beautiful, creamy matte that I love to combine with winged liner and some brown and copper eyeshadow. It's perfect for a glowy, bronzed look. My number one go-to nude at the moment however is Persistence. It's a slightly darker version of Velvet Teddy and I think that is why I feel like it suits me better. It's a relatively new shade that I found out about thanks to my YouTube queen Helen Anderson and I've worn it so much already. The shade is a warm reddish brown and the formula is very matte but still creamy. This is a big pro for me because some matte MAC lipsticks tend to get really dry on the lips. It's also the most 90s shade I currently own, which might be another reason why I love it so much. The third and last MAC lipstick in this post is in the shade Verve. This one has a satin finish, which makes it a little more shiny than the other two. I don't own a lot of satin lipsticks and to be honest I do wish they did this one as a matte, because I feel like this one gets patchy quite quickly as you go through your day but the shade is amazing. It's a deep red/brown and it's pretty enough to make me step away from my beloved mattes every once in a while.

Next up I want to mention Mars by Coloured Raine which comes in my favourite formula liquid to matte. I don't think this dark pink/brownish colour technically qualifies as a nude but in all honesty I just really want to talk about it because I have yet to find a brand that mastered the liquid to matte formula better than Coloured Raine did. It's so rich and pigmented and unlike many other liquid to mattes, it doesn't make your lips feel dry at all. You literally don't even notice you're wearing anything at all. On top of that it doesn't fade whatsoever and even though Mars is probably my favourite shade out of all the lipsticks I own, they also have many other shades that I'd love to try.

Last on my list are two products by KIKO. I love this brand so much. They do amazing, highly pigmented eyeshadows and some really good lipsticks. I'm especially excited about their precision lipliner in shade 504 that is a pretty nudey brown that looks perfect by itself as a lipstick. From their range of matte lipstick I really like 611 that I only recently picked up but I can tell I'm going to wear it a lot. It's not as matte as the MAC ones and they don't last as long as the other products I mentioned either but the colours are beautiful and they are only about 6 each so for that price I'll happily do a touch up a couple extra times a day.

So, at this very moment, these are the nudes I wear the most. I also have Kat Von D's Lolita on the way, I really want to buy Jeffree Star's Celebrity Skin and I'm definitely hoping to get my hands on some Charlotte Tilbury and Anastasia shades so I might come back with an update really soon.

I hope you guys had fun reading my first proper post. What are your favourite nude shades and what do you like to wear them with? Let me know in the comments!

xx Anjelica
