I love Jon every single day of my life but there are specific moments when I love him even more and since it's his birthday and he is actually 54 years old today, I thought I could list a few of them.
when het gets in that mood You all know what i'm talking about. It's that jukebox mood. That i'll just do a cheeky dance and no-one will care that i'm really bad at it mood. That i'll just throw in a grin and a side-eyed glance while i'm shaking my butt so i can get away with playing Who Says You Can't Go Home mood.
when he gets sincere Not gonna lie, Jon is an amazing show man and he knows what effect he has on people with certain moves, smiles, lines and looks. But sometimes, when he lets all of that go to talk to the ones who follow them around the globe, notices something in the crowd or just wants to genuinely say thank you, that is when I probably love him most. Milan 2013 for example, and everything he said and hasn't said about the whole Richie thing. I think we all loved hearing how he felt that we were in it together. Or that time at the end of the Because We Can tour when he went "Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars for you either." Honestly, same.
when he shows how many fucks he really gives Overall, Jon really doesn't give a fuck if you like him or not and if you do something that pisses him off, whether you're a fan, friend, bandmember, journalist or a king, you're going to feel it. Amazing. I mean, it's a bit cringy sometimes too. I remember when he told a whole Scottish crowd to get out of their fucking seats just because they weren't having enough fun in his opinion, but at the end of the day we love him for it.
when he gets creative with setlists Alright, it doesn't happen as often as it used too but when it happens, it's amazing. Nothing like hearing him say: "we haven't played this one in a very long time."
when he plays the electric guitar jesus christ.
when he first walks out on stage I mean there is nothing he does that no other popstar can do, probably, but I can go to any concert in the world and not feel what I feel when Jon first steps out at the start of a show. All attitude, sunglasses and smiles while we're all right there at his feet, ready for whatever he decides the night will bring.
So because of this and many other reasons I just want to say happy birthday to one of the most important men in my life. I miss you, I love you and thank you so much for everything that you are.
